Identification of accident scenarios caused by internal factors using HAZOP to assess an organic hydride hydrogen refueling station involving methylcyclohexane

Organic hydride hydrogen refueling stations have been remarked as that can employ a practicable method based on the organic chemical system involving methylcyclohexane (MCH) for transport of hydrogen. This station has advantages in storage and transportation MCH does not require large amount energy compared to compressed liquefied hydrogen, use existing infrastructure. type involves some hazardous materials, thus, scenario identifications risk assessments performed by researchers. However, sample studies available employed conceptual design model, they did identify concrete scenarios triggered internal factors. Therefore, purpose this study is accidental caused factors affect an station. In study, we used Hazard Operability (HAZOP) examined safety measures scenarios. As result HAZOP, 105 were identified classified into two following groups; (i) assumed substances ignited after released atmosphere, (ii) process before released. Significant group or toluene pool fires, jet vapor gas explosions, flash fires.
